Exchanging RMB in Sydney

Quick question:

Is it possible to just take cash RMB and get it changed into AUD in Sydney?

I'm payed in RMB here and the bureaucratic hurdles in trying to get it exchanged here are enormous....

I've changed it at Thomas Cook at Sydney airport before but not a good rate. Aso exchanged at my local Thomas Cook in Melbourne and got a reasonable rate.
If you give me a call on 13122 810 421, I'll let you know how to change it in AUD here in Shanghai.

The National Australia Bank has recently done a deal with UnionPay (the Chinese debit card system). Now you can use your Chinese cash card (I used my China Merchant's bank one) at any of NAB's ATMs in Sydney and take out your RMB directly in AUD. Just make sure your card has a UnionPay symbol on it

Juliet. You are a wealth of knowledge. How great! I'll just add my "two bobs worth". I just got back from Oz and noticed that the ANZ bank at the airport had RMB.
