you need 220v adapters. Cheapest way to do it is buy the real stuff instead of adapters (i.e. going to a camera shop an buy an adapter directly).
Just leave all your adapter in US and buy them new here. It will save you weight and money.

I only have one for my camera and cell phone, so buying the adapters there would be good if they are cheap.
what about my laptop? I will buy a new Dell.
All of your information is greatly appreciated!

Mark is absolutley correct.
You might consider going further.
If you are going to be hear for a few years, then buy your Dell out here. You can get the English Languge version of windows and MS Office installed here. That is what I did. I get my servicing done by them as well. There are no big computer retailers here with a service centre that I am aware of except PriceBuster.
There are lots of back alley repair shops, but they won't speak English.
Phones here are very cheap. From about USD 30 upwards. They also have top of the range phones if you want. But they will come with the correct charger.

but I heard the prices on computers are better here in the states. Can you buy a Dell out there?
Again, information from you both is a great help!!

Hi. Both guys are right. I lived in China for long time and got my laptop from here. They have all computer brands and electronics (mostly) Dell is available too. I also know it''s better to get the things you need from here so if you face any problem in the future, you won't have any problem in getting after sales service.
Tigerbay! Don't you have SUNING stores in Shanghai? As far as I know it's the biggest electronic retailers in China

I didn't know Suning had a 'Computer Doctor' service.

US and Japan have much better prices than China in laptops. I guarantee that.
